During the Second World War one of the Georgian villages is haunted by sorrow and famine. Sosoya who becomes compassionate to people, takes care of his aunt, blind Khatia, insane Bejana and the wounded Russian soldier. The war comes to a close. Sosoya believes that life will be better, Khatia will see and that they will be together.
