The 19th century revolutionary Italy. No one can figure out that the notorious revolutionary dubbed "wasp" and Cardinal Montanelli’s illegitimate son Arthur who fled the area in his youth for the alleged betrayal, are the same person. Arthur is not even recognized by his lover Gemma, who is participating in the armed plot. The rebellion is being defeated. "Wasp" remains impervious to the Cardinal’s entreaties and takes the death sentence in cold blood.
